Emergency Childcare for Essential Workers

Due to Covid-19 and safety guidelines established through the State of Texas the Y cannot operate a childcare program to the general public. But we can provide emergency care for essential workers!

Starting Monday, May 4 the Y will operate Emergancy Childcare for Essential Workers through its license. 

For: Children of essential workers ages 3 - 12 (must be potty trained)

When: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 6:00pm

Where: First Baptist Church, 37 E. Harris Ave.

Cost: $100 per week
The Y turns no one away due to the inability to pay. Financial Assistance is available.

Other Information:

  • Parents must provide proof of essential work from the employer in written form. 

 

  • For safety reasons parent's are not allowed in the program site. Temperatures are taken for all staff and children before entering the building. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or more will not be allowed in the building and must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication. Children exhibiting any signs of illness such as a cough will not be allowed to stay at camp. A call will be made for pick-up within 30 minutes. The child will be seperated from the group until pick up. Failure to pick up within 30 minutes will be grounds for termination from the program.

 

  • Camp is an electronic free zone, this includes phones. Controlling content is difficult and makes it difficult to allow such devices. Should a camper bring a device it will be kept by the Site Director and can be retrieved upon departure for the day.

 

  • Children will be grouped by age and kept in ratios determined by the State of Texas Licensing. Campers will received breakfast and a snack provided by the Y. Campers must provide a sack lunch.
