YMCA JOB FAIR
Thursday, August 3
3 - 5 PM

 

Thank you for your interest in working for the YMCA. The Y offers a wide variety of programs and seeks energetic staff to be part of an organization that makes a difference every day. All staff must meet the following requirements:

 

Staff Age: YMCA staff must be at least 18 years old.  

Background check: All staff undergo a criminal history background check. Child care staff also undergo a CPS and FBI fingerprint background check. Successful background checks are required before beginning employment.

CPR/First Aid/BBP: All staff must obtain, CPR, Frist Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogens certifications within the first 14 days of employment. Training is available through the YMCA. Certification must be maintained according to program area requirements. (Lifeguards and swim instructors must have CPR/First Aid/BBP prior to employment).

Employee Training: All staff must undergo the following trainings during the on-boarding process.

  • YMCA Orientation           
  • Child Abuse Prevention (update annually) 
  • Harassment Prevention (update annually)

 

AQUATICS

  • Lifeguards (15 - 20 hrs/wk) 

Requirements: Lift up to 25 lb, stand, sit for long periods, kneel, see, hear, and speak. Prior lifeguard experience preferred. Able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Must be flexible, adaptable, creative, and solution oriented. Able to provide excellent customer service. Must attend required staff meetings and trainings. 

Certification: Current Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid required prior to employment. 

Job Duties: Provide supervision of all activities in the pool. Conduct swim tests, ensure swimmer compliance with facility guidelines, and provide lifesaving measures as necessary.

 Work Hours: Flexibility required to work various shifts during the week. Must be able to work weekend shifts.

 

  • Swim Lesson Instructors (8 hrs/wk)

Requirements: Lift up to 25 lb, stand, sit for long periods, kneel, see, hear, and speak. Prior lifeguard experience preferred. Able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Must be flexible, adaptable, creative, and solution oriented. Able to provide excellent customer service. Must attend required staff meetings and trainings.

Certification: Current recognized swim instructor certification required prior to employment.

Job Duties: Provide small group swim lessons to youth of various ages. May provide private swim lessons as needed.

Work Hours: Mon-Fri afternoon/evenings. May work occasional Saturdays. 

 

CAFE

  • Cafe Supervisor (25 hrs/wk)

Requirements: Lift up to 50 lb, stand for long periods, kneel, climb ladder, see, hear, and speak. 1-2 years of restaurant or food service experience. Supervision experience preferred. Able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Must be able to use organization computer systems, including email, database, documents, etc. Must be able to us organization phone systems. Must be flexible, adaptable, creative, and solution oriented. Able to provide excellent customer service.

Certification Required: Food handler and Food manager certifications obtained within 7 days of employment

Job Duties: Oversee café program area. Supervise 3-4 program staff, including hiring, scheduling, training and employee discipline. Manage inventory and cost control to meet budget goals. Develop menu to meet members needs and expectations.

Work Hours: Flexibility required to work any shift during the week. Must be able to work early mornings, days, evenings/nights, and weekends. Shift will vary week to week.

 

  • Cafe Staff (15 - 20 hrs/wk)

    Requirements: Lift up to 50 lb, stand for long periods, kneel, climb ladder, see, hear, and speak. Prior restaurant or food service experience preferred. Able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Must be able to use organization computer systems, including email, database, documents, etc. Must be flexible, adaptable, creative, and solution oriented. Able to provide excellent customer service.

    Certification Required: Food handler certification obtained within 7 days of employment.

    Job Duties: Serve members while providing excellent customer service.

    Work Hours: Flexibility required to work various shifts during the week. Must be able to work weekend shifts. 

 

CHILDCARE

  • After School Program - Head Start, School Age, Subs (20 - 25 hrs/wk)

Requirements: Lift up to 25 lb, stand, sit in a chair and on the floor, kneel, run, walk, see, hear and speak. Prior child care experience preferred. Able to work with children ages 3-5 years old or 5-10 years old. Able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Must be flexible, adaptable, creative, and solution oriented. Able to provide excellent customer service. Must be a high school graduate or have GED. Must have own vehicle as most positions work at off-site locations.

Certification: None

Job Duties: Provide care for children in the After school program at their school. Provide supervision for assigned children, assist with homework, lead group activities such as arts and crafts, group games, and learning activities. Work with Site Director and program staff to ensure adherence to state and program guidelines. Be active, engaging, silly and fun, while able to provide structure, guidance and discipline.

 Work Hours: Head Start – Mon-Fri 1:30 pm-6:00 pm. School Age – Mon-Fri 2:30-6:00 pm. Staff meetings and trainings as required.

 

  • Childcare Administrative Assistant (15 - 20 hrs/wk)

Requirements: Lift up to 25 lb, stand, sit in a chair, kneel, see, hear and speak. Prior office administration or customer service experience preferred. Able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Must be able to use organization computer systems, including email, database, spread sheets, documents, etc. Must be able to us organization phone systems. Must be flexible, adaptable, creative, and solution oriented. Able to provide excellent customer service. Must be a high school graduate or have GED. Bi-lingual a plus.

Certification: None

Job Duties: Assist the Child Care Administrator in processing department paperwork, maintaining files, managing accounts, tracking program metrics, and supporting the Child Care Programs.

Work Hours: TBD. Required to work 2-3 Saturdays each year. 

 

  • Childwatch Attendant (15 - 20 hrs/wk)
    Requirements: Lift up to 25 lb, stand, sit in a chair and on the floor, kneel, see, hear and speak. Prior child care experience preferred. Able to work with children ages 6 weeks through 10 years. Able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Must be flexible, adaptable, creative, and solution oriented. Able to provide excellent customer service

    Certification Required: None

    Job Duties: Provide care for young children while parents are working out, maximum 2 hours per child. Manage up to 15 children of various ages. Engage children in age appropriate activities, provide behavior guidance and appropriate discipline.

    Work Hours: Shifts are Mon – Fri 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, Mon – Fri 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Sat 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Staff rotate Saturday shifts. Prefer staff with flexibility to work morning and evening shifts, but not required. 

 

  • Food Program Assistant (20 -25 hrs/wk)

Requirements: Lift up to 50 lb, stand for long periods, sit in a chair, kneel, see, hear and speak. Prior food service or restaurant experience preferred. Able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Must be able to use organization computer systems, including email, spread sheets, documents, etc. Must be able to us organization phone systems. Must be flexible, adaptable, creative, and solution oriented. Able to provide excellent customer service. Must be a high school graduate or have GED. Must have clean driving record and able to drive a YMCA vehicle.

Certification: None

Job Duties: Assist the Food Program Director in all aspects of the YMCA’s Child Care food programs. Assist in menu planning, food/equipment procurement, food prep and serving, and cleaning. Ensure compliance with food program guideline including licensing, CACFP, and HEPA.

Work Hours: TBD. May require moderate flexibility to accommodate program needs.

 

  • Preschool Staff (15 - 20 hrs/wk)

Requirements: Lift up to 25 lb, stand, sit in a chair and on the floor, kneel, run, walk, see, hear and speak. Prior child care experience preferred. Able to work with children ages 3-5 years old or 5-10 years old. Able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Must be flexible, adaptable, creative, and solution oriented. Able to provide excellent customer service. Must be a high school graduate or have GED. Must attend required staff meetings and trainings.

Certification: None

MEMBERSHIP

  • Welcome Center Staff (10 - 20 hrs/wk)

 

Requirements: Lift up to 25 lb, stand, sit for long periods, kneel, see, hear, and speak. Prior customer service experience preferred. Able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Must be able to use organization computer systems, including email, database, documents, etc. Must be able to us organization phone systems. Must be flexible, adaptable, creative, and solution oriented. Able to provide excellent customer service. Bi-lingual is a plus.

Certification Required: None

Job Duties: Front desk staff serve as the face and voice of the YMCA. Staff assist members by answering general program questions, registering for programs, and creating a welcoming and engaging first customer experience. Use computers to register participants, take payments, and access information.

Work Hours: Flexibility required to work various shifts during the week. Must be able to work weekend shifts.

 

WELLNESS CENTER

  • Wellness Center Attendants (20 - 25 hrs/wk)

Requirements: Lift up to 50 lb, stand for long periods, sit in a chair, kneel, see, hear and speak. Prior fitness experience preferred. Able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Must be able to us organization phone systems. Must be flexible, adaptable, creative, and solution oriented. Able to provide excellent customer service.

Certification: None

Job Duties: Provide supervision and member support in fitness areas of the facility. Ensure safety guidelines are followed, offer assistance to members and keep facility clean.

Work Hours: Flexibility required to work various shifts during the week. Must be able to work weekend shifts.

 

YOUTH SPORTS

  • Game Supervisors (Seasonal 15-20 hrs/wk)

Requirements: Lift up to 50 lb, stand for long periods, sit in a chair, kneel, see, hear and speak. Prior youth sports experience preferred. Able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Must be flexible, adaptable, creative, and solution oriented. Able to provide excellent customer service.

Certification: None

Job Duties: Provide supervision and support during youth sports games and tournaments. Ensure safety guidelines and program polices are followed, manage disputes and complaints at the site, and support referees, time keepers and line judges as necessary.

Work Hours: Flexibility required to work various shifts during the season Must be able to work evening and weekend shifts.
